BEC are working in Partnership with STARR with project management being provided from both parties.

The project consists of, traditional foundations; with brick/block work substructure and a Beam & Block Floor, External facing brickwork walls, with Aluminium Windows and Doors and a new Alwitra Flat roof.

Internally Plastering to Partitions and new Finishes, with a refurbishment to the existing Youth Club hall, and adaptations to the existing M & E scheme.

Externally, works to the Car Park and New Retaining walls.

The scheme has a number of Environmental requirements which have been carefully worked into the project.

A Fit out for the New Food Technology Kitchens and It suite and external works to form new playground.

This is a Negotiated Project following on from the New Food Technology Block currently under Construction.

BEC are working in Partnership with KHPC with project management being provided from both parties.

The project consists of, traditional foundations; with brick/block work substructure and a In-Situ Slab Floor, a new trussed roof with Cedar Shingles, over Tac Tray Roof Supported on a Portal frame. The low level Roof is a Trocal Single Ply membrane, and the Entrance canopy is a Standing seam Zinc Roof. A passenger lift was installed for Disabled use, and all the Doors and Windows were a Kawneer system, with Disabled opening doors to both entrances. External walls are a Forticrete Split Faced Facing Block, with Cedar Cladding.

Externally a soft play area with fencing was provided for the pre-School Nursery and a new extended Block paved Car Park.

The project was completed on time and to the Clients Budget.

THE PROJECT COMMENCED WITH A GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY WITH THE LOCAL CHILDREN WHO WOULD BE USING THE FACILLITIES

Signing of the steel beam
John Verrier site manager for BEC suggested that the school children and headteacher may like to sign one of the steel beams, which forms part of the sports hall, an idea which was met with great enthusiasm from the children, staff and operatives on site.

John explained that this was an old Japanese custom, which is meant to bring good luck to the building.

The Works which are now completed on the New Sports Hall consists of, Deep reinforced Concrete foundations; with brick/block work substructure and a Beam & Block Floor. Steel Frame, with Roof and External Cladding, under floor Heating and Sports Floor. Showers and Changing Rooms. New Access Road and Playground.

The project was handed over on time and within budget.

The New Nursery which was run by BEC Project Manager Andy Louch was completed on programme and within Budget is the last part of the Redevelopment of Drapers Mills School.

The New Nursery, has now been named by the Head teacher Mr. John Viner as ‘Little Millers’, an apt name we all think.
